We built the campervan that we wanted to rent out ourselves.

We've been renting out campervans since 2017. Over 12.000 of our vans have set off and returned – and each time we've seen what works, what's annoying, and what's missing. At some point, it became clear: we had to build the vehicle we were looking for ourselves.

The result was two panel vans, 6,0 and 6,40 meters long. Short enough for a normal parking space, fully equipped, with a wealth of standard features that would otherwise fill the options lists. What's included is included because we've seen it in use hundreds of times before.

You don't have to do without anything. Standard features include a shower, kitchen with refrigerator and stove, four seats, two sleeping berths, awning and tow bar — plus power outlets and USB ports where you actually need them.

We're not different on this list, though. Almost everyone has one. The difference lies in the things you only notice on your second trip:

• Light in planes — Dimmable ambient lighting for the evening, spotlights above the kitchen and bed for cooking and reading. No overhead light that makes everything equally bright at 22 p.m.
• Drawers instead of flaps — a pull-out system where each subject has a task. Nothing that requires you to kneel down and reach into the furthest corner.
• Pressure on the line — The tap turns on, the water comes out immediately and remains constant. Even when showering, even if someone is washing dishes next door.
• Bathroom with matte black fittings — and a louvered door that closes magnetically. It doesn't require any space to swing open and doesn't rattle on rough roads.
• Rear pull-out drawer under the bed — the heavy stuff goes on the pull-out shelf instead of being moved to the back of the garage, where you can only get it out again with half your upper body inside the vehicle.
• Cushions that can withstand some wear and tear Sand, dog hair, wet jackets. The fabrics are dirt-repellent, not just beautiful.
• Diesel parking heater — it draws from the vehicle's fuel tank. No need to change bottles at the campsite, no searching for the right adapter abroad.
